Bié: INAC wants internment center for minors in conflict with the law

Africa-Press – Angola. The head of the National Children’s Institute (INAC) in Bié, Vasco Cambovo, defended yesterday, in the city of Cuito, the need to build a detention center for minors in conflict with the law, for a better re-education.

Vasco Cambovo said that the lack of an internment center prevents minors involved in crimes, especially those of greater gravity, from being held accountable, in accordance with the law in force in the country.

INAC in Bié currently controls 15 minors, between eight and 15 years old, in conflict with the law.

They committed crimes of voluntary homicide, sexual violation, moral and physical offenses, robberies, thefts, drug use, among others.

As a consequence of the lack of space for re-education, he explained, there have been cases of retaliation in families, since, after the guilt has been determined and the sentence has been handed down by the Juvenile Court, he continues to be in the custody of the family, despite deserving monitoring by INAC and other legal institutions.

Without further details, the official informed that the government of the province of Bié is planning to build an observation center for minors in conflict with the law, with the aim of minimizing the negative impact of their actions on society.

The observation center for minors in conflict with the law, according to him, will contribute to the enhancement of fundamental principles, both primary (fundamental rights and basic social policies) and secondary (educational assistance, support programs, aid and guidance for children and their families).
