Africa-Press – Angola. About five hundred children from various social strata, in Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, benefited, this Thursday, from toys and snacks, as part of the celebrations of the Day of the African Child, which is celebrated yesterday.

The party was held in partnership with the Tuzolana association, based in the municipality of Soyo, which, with the sponsorship of the company Angola-LNG, provided the youngsters with moments of culture, leisure and conviviality, in an act promoted by the Insituto Nacional da Criança (INAC) in the region .

On the occasion, the children thanked the gesture and asked those who were entitled to fulfill the 11 commitments assumed by the Angolan Executive towards them, as well as calling for greater responsibility to the country and those responsible for their education.

Exhibition of traditional dances, recitation of poetry and musical performances by children and adults marked the party, witnessed by the acting municipal administrator of Mbanza Kongo, Garcia Moniz.

Addressing those present, Garcia Moniz appealed to parents and guardians to be more careful with minors, having reaffirmed the commitment and engagement of local administrative authorities in fulfilling the 11 commitments towards the child.

He advised the children to denounce all types of violence against them practiced by adults, for whom the potential violators are found within their own families or communities where the children are inserted.

In turn, the president of the Tuzolana association, Afonso Pedro Gomes, explained that his organization, with the support of its partners, is focused on the materialization of social projects to benefit the most needy communities.

He informed that the Tuzolana association was created in 1991, in the municipality of Soyo, and intends to assert itself, at national level, as an organization dedicated to philanthropic actions in support of the most disadvantaged layers and in defense of the environment.

The act, which took place in the school complex of the 4 de Fevereiro neighborhood “Alvaro Sampaio Wabuza”, was also witnessed by Rafael Kidiwa, head of provincial services in Zaire at the National Children’s Institute (INAC), and by officials, teachers and other employees of the said school, as well as parents and guardians.

African Children’s Day, celebrated on June 16 of each year, was established by the then Organization of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU), in 1991, in memory of hundreds of black children murdered by the racial segregation regime. , in Soweto, South Africa, in 1976, for claiming their rights for a quality education in their mother tongue.
