Africa-Press – Angola. 1,600 fuel cards (petrol) will start, next week, to be delivered to motorcycle taxi drivers in the province of Zaire, within the scope of the subsidy program designed by the Executive.
The announcement was made this Saturday, in Mbanza Kongo, by the provincial governor, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, on the sidelines of an act of clarification on the partial withdrawal of petrol subsidies, addressed to the class of motorcycle taxi drivers.
Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, who was speaking to the press, explained that the cards could still arrive Saturday in Mbanza Kongo, to be distributed to the recipients next week.
In total, according to the governor, Zaire will receive more than 5,000 fuel cards, noting that the measure aims to mitigate the negative impact on carriers and fishermen in view of the gradual reduction of the gasoline subsidy, which went from 160 kwanzas to 300 kwanzas , the litre.
The governor considered the measure taken by the Executive to gradually reduce gasoline subsidies, emphasizing that it will have a positive impact on the lives of the population, by providing more revenue for solving numerous social problems.
Therefore, he asked young motorcycle taxi drivers to remain calm, stating that the competent authorities will know how to circumvent the anomalies that may eventually arise depending on the measures that are being implemented.
On the occasion, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho delivered two motorbikes to the Zaire Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Association, as well as 100 helmets to members, having promised to raffle another three motorbikes next weekend.
The act took place in the multipurpose field of Nzolani, located in the 4 de Fevereiro neighbourhood.
