Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, recognized, this Tuesday, in Vienna, the efforts that the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, has made, in favor of international peace and security.
The acknowledgment was expressed during the ceremony for the delivery of credentials by the Angolan diplomat, Isabel Godinho, to the President of the Federal Republic of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen.
On the occasion, the Head of State praised Angola’s support for Austria’s candidacy for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, in the period 2027-2028.
He added that during the referred mandate, Austria intends to continue to count on Angola’s experience, in the resolution of conflicts in the world and, particularly, in the Great Lakes Region.
On her turn, Ambassador Isabel Godinho expressed her interest in working towards the deepening of relations between the two countries, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Angola and Austria established diplomatic relations in October 1981.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries are based on two axes, via international organizations where both countries are members and via bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on business cooperation.
