PAENAL will have electricity in August

Africa-Press – Angola. Electrification work at the company Porto Amboim Estaleiro Naval (PAENAL), in the province of Cuanza Sul, ends next August, when it will be connected to a power of 3.2 MVA, informed Friday, the director- general, Luis Barroso.

Luís Barroso said that “we are close to completing the PAENAL electrification process. We await the arrival of the imported transformers and from the first half of August we will already be connected to the national electricity grid”.

Started around four months ago, the electrification process aims to install a capacity of 3.2 MVA, over a course of one kilometer, from the National Electricity Network.

In charge of the company Construção, Importação em Electromecânica (CME), electrification costs 250 thousand euros, and aims to increase PAENAL’s competitiveness in the market by reducing its fixed costs of 20 thousand liters of fuel per month to supply the four groups generators.

It also includes the benefits of reducing the environmental footprint, complying with the international strategy within the oil industry to reduce carbon emissions.

“We have a chain of expenses of 250 thousand euros per year in fuel consumption, maintenance and repair of the generator park and, with this investment, we will have a reduction in energy costs by 35 thousand euros per year”, he maintained.

According to the director of the CME Company, Aníbal Antunes, the electrical project aims to connect a 30 kilovolt branch line to two Transformation Stations (PT) of 1600 Kaveares each.
