Africa-Press – Angola. Eighty-three foreign citizens, in an irregular migratory situation, left Cunene province, from June 2022 to June 2023, less 94 compared to the same period in the years 2021 to 2022.

The information was disclosed by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in Cunene, on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), celebrated Thursday (22).

The SME informs that among the irregulars are nationals of China, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Namibia, adding that of the total of 83 expatriates, 75 left administratively and eight judicially.

In a statement on the sidelines of the act of the 44th anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), the director of the SME in Cunene, migration commissioner Ribeiro Ferraz, explained that foreigners enter the country legally, but for not renewing their visas, remain illegal.

Ribeiro Ferraz added that the province of Cunene shares a 460 kilometer border with Namibia, in an area where there are the border posts of Santa Clara, Calongo, Okalueque and Ruacaná. Of these, 340 are on land and 120 are on rivers.

In the opposite direction, 538 Angolans who resided illegally in Namibian territory, were expelled and received, by the Angolan authorities, at the Santa Clara border post, by the SME.

As an entity that controls emigration, the SME has had the support of the Border Guard Police, Customs Fiscal Police, the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) and the General Tax Administration (AGT).

The SME in Cunene has a register of 600 foreign citizens, 436 with work visas, 63 with temporary stay visas, 71 residents, 23 convicts and seven detainees.
