Africa-Press – Angola. A Justice Ombudsman office will be opened in the coming months in the urban district of Kilamba, with the aim of bringing citizens closer together and facilitating the process of presenting their concerns, announced (Tuesday), in Luanda, the Ombudsman Angolan, Florbela Araújo.
According to the person in charge, the installation of the office has already been agreed with the local authorities and its purpose is to bring the provider’s services closer to citizens.
Florbela Araújo carried out a verification visit to the State bodies in the district, as a result of the complaints presented by the residents related to cracks and infiltrations in the apartments, lack of security, delay in issuing identity cards, difficulties in the birth registration services, among others others.
As part of his trip to the district, a lecture was given on “the role and function of the Ombudsman in defending the rights of citizens”.
Florbela Araújo highlighted the historical and institutional aspects of the Ombudsman’s Office, also addressing the duty of cooperation of central and local state administration bodies, vicissitudes, function, legal regime, scope, prerogatives and characteristics of the ombudsman.
On the occasion, Kilamba’s deputy district administrator for the Technical Area, Felisbina Ferreira, said that her institution will increasingly strengthen cooperation ties with the Ombudsman’s Office, in order to better defend citizens’ fundamental rights.
