Africa-Press – Angola. Angola intends to transform natural resources and add more value to them, to take greater advantage, said Tuesday, in Norway, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo.

To this end, the official, who was speaking during a meeting in Norway, with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Erling Rimestad, recognizes the role played by companies such as Norwegian Equinor, in the Angolan oil and gas sector.

“We want it to reinforce its activity and share its experience, above all, in the exploration of marginal fields, as it is an important company in the Sector”, he said.

On the occasion, Diamantino Azevedo reviewed the situation of the Oil and Gas Sector and the country’s commitment to transparency in the extractive industries, ensuring that financial resources affect the population more and more positively.

“More Norwegian investment is needed in Angola”, stresses the Angolan minister, who previously held a meeting with his oil and energy counterpart, Terje Asland.

The host spoke about Europe’s challenges in terms of energy supply, as a result of difficulties in obtaining Russian gas.

“We are interested in developing natural gas resources and similar opportunities between your country and Norway,” said Terje Asland.

In an interview given recently by the ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway accredited to Angola, Kikkan Haugen, trade between the two countries is around between US$2 and US$4 billion.

Norwegian companies operating in Angola include Equinor and Aker Solutions, in the oil and gas sector.
