Africa-Press – Angola. Five hundred and thirty exhibitors, including peasant women and farmers from Cabinda, are participating, from thursday until today, in the first edition of the banana and cassava fair, with the aim of facilitating the sale of these products and stimulating production in this field.

A promotion by the Provincial Secretariat for Integrated Economic Development, the showcase will allow stallholders to sell their products, which often stagnate in cultivation areas due to lack of drainage.

The exhibition, which is on display at the Cabassango market, on the outskirts of the city of Cabinda, will also help peasants and farmers with their recipes, allowing them to purchase equipment and other artefacts to boost production.

On the occasion, Cabinda’s deputy governor for the Economic Sector, Macário Lembe, encouraged local peasants and farmers to contribute to increasing production, ensuring the supply of these products in the province’s markets.

Cabinda has produced large quantities of banana varieties, with emphasis on banana bread, which is exported across the Massabi/Cacongo border to the Congolese province of Ponta-Negra, reaching some regions of the Republic of Gabon.

The provincial government of Cabinda periodically promotes agricultural and livestock fairs, with the aim of facilitating the sale of products from the countryside.
