Africa-Press – Angola. A billion and 101 million kwanzas were made available by the Angolan Development Bank (BDA), to finance 18 agricultural projects in the province of Malanje, under the Program to Support Production, Diversification of Exports and Substitution of Imports (PRODESI) .

The value benefited Cooperatives and Associations of peasants in various parts of the province and was also focused on compliance with the economic relief measures implemented by the Executive due to the limitations imposed on economic activities by Covid-19.

The information is expressed in the final communiqué of the II BIC-RNA Forum, held in this city, which also highlights that Malanje is the third province in the country with the most registered producers, waiting for financing within the framework of PRODESI, which will allow the emergence of new agricultural projects.

On the other hand, the document mentions that Banco Internacional de Crédito (BIC) has disbursed AOA 190 billion in recent years for financing linked to agribusiness, with a view to contributing to the diversification of the national economy.

In addition to assets for financing agricultural and other projects, BIC also has car insurance packages for civil liability, agriculture, multi-risk, goods transport, civil liability and beyond, with a view to ensuring the sustainability of business in the country.

However, the Forum recommended replacing agrochemical inputs with organic ones and crop rotation during farming, with a view to preserving the environment and soil.

Promoting the environmental licensing of agricultural projects, the rationalization of natural resources, the mitigation of the negative effects on nature and biodiversity, resulting from agricultural activity, are part of the recommendations issued by the BIC-RNA Forum.

On the other hand, the event concluded that there were 250,000 hectares of cartographic reserve available in downtown Cassanje and in the Songo and southern regions of Malanje for large-scale agricultural production and the Kapanda agro-industrial development pole, among other conditions aimed at agribusiness development.

The Forum is an initiative of Banco BIC in partnership with Radio Nacional de Angola, which aimed to seek contributions to the economic development of the country, through financing to economic operators, as well as to publicize the agricultural potential of Malanje.

The one-day event addressed the Executive’s programs to support agriculture and environmental sustainability, agriculture as a development factor, among other topics, which contribute to the promotion of sustainable agriculture.

Officials from RNA and Banco BIC, members of the government, journalists, traditional authorities, businessmen, students and citizens from other social strata participated in it.
