Africa-Press – Angola. The coordinator and companion of the North Judicial Region of the Attorney General’s Office, Neto Joaquim Neto, defended the integration of prisoners in productive activities, with a view to their social and economic reintegration after serving their sentences.
Speaking at the end of a visit to the women’s penitentiary establishment in the municipality of Cacuso, the magistrate stressed that despite the engagement of some inmates in agricultural production in the province and the creation of a cutting and sewing center being in the pipeline, it is still necessary to provide more spaces occupation of prisoners.
He specified that this strategy facilitates the generation of income after the end of the sentence and prevents the individual from incurring in criminal practices again.
On the other hand, Neto Joaquim Neto was satisfied with the level of functioning of the Damba and Cacuso prisons, having verified the existence of basic services, in strict respect for human rights.
The magistrate, who also visited the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office in Cacuso, reaffirmed the PGR’s continued commitment to dignifying and improving the working conditions of technicians.
The Cacuso women’s penitentiary establishment controls 15 inmates, nine of whom are convicted and six are detained.
Neto Joaquim Neto has been working since Monday in Malanje to assess the functioning of the penitentiary sector and his day ends on Friday (30) with visits to the provincial district to find out about the conditions of accommodation for prisoners and bodies assigned to the Ministry of the Interior .
