Africa-Press – Angola. Parliaments of Angola and Portugal addressed, this Friday, in Lisbon, the new perspectives of cooperation.

The approach was focused on deepening cooperation in the field of new technologies and on concerting political agendas, suited to the dynamism of world geopolitics.

The fact was evident during a meeting between the president of the Angolan National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, and her Portuguese counterpart, Augusto Santos e Silva.

On the occasion, Carolina Cerqueira invited Augusto Santos Silva to be present at the 147th General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union, which will take place in Luanda between the 23rd and 27th of October 2023, which was promptly accepted.

The meeting between the two presidents of the parliaments of Angola and Portugal also served to take stock of the state of cooperation relations between the two institutions.

At the meeting, which was also attended by ambassador Maria de Jesus Ferreira, Augusto Santos Silva congratulated Angola on the dynamism of parliamentary action in the advocacy of peace in the African region, also highlighting the modernization registered in the National Assembly.

As part of her visit to Portugal, Carolina Cerqueira also participated, for two days, in various activities included in the program of commemorations of the International Day of Parliamentarianism, which included receptions offered by the mayors of Lisbon and Sintra, respectively, Carlos Coins and Basílio Horta.
