Africa-Press – Angola. Five thousand 749 former soldiers licensed under the peace agreements of Bicesse, Lusaka, Luena and Namibe, still need to be reintegrated at the country level, informed Wednesday, in Saurimo, Lunda Sul, the Secretary of State for Social Action, Lúcio do Amaral.
Speaking at the closing act of the Reintegration Process of Ex-soldiers (PRE) in Lunda Sul, the official underlined that given the need to accelerate the completion of this activity, the re-registration, in the five-year period 2018/2022, of 80 thousand 537 staff, with the support of the Management Information System (SIG), with only 5,749 having been calculated.
He explained that the aforementioned process began in 1992, when 241,400 former soldiers were expected to be reinstated.
Of this number, according to Lúcio do Amaral, by 2017, a total of 160,863 former soldiers were reintegrated into the country.
He made it known that the socio-productive reintegration of former soldiers is seen as a fundamental pillar for the reinforcement of peace, harmony and national cohesion, as well as the consolidation of the democratic process in Angola.
The PRE has already taken place in 10 of the country’s 18 provinces.
