Africa-Press – Angola. Administrative deconcentration is a fact in Angola and has contributed to improving the implementation of socio-economic projects in the country’s 164 municipalities, according to the Secretary of State for Municipalities and Local Power, Márcio Daniel.
The leader made this statement, this Friday, at the presentation and publicity ceremony of the 4th edition of the Feira dos Municípios e Cidades de Angola, stressing that administrative deconcentration has increasingly brought services closer to the population and is a guideline that must be assumed as a “commitment by all, with all and for all”.
He added that the reinforcement of the competences of the municipalities is a reality and an irreversible process and has transformed the municipalities into true centers of development.
“The PIIM, the Local Development Programme, Combating Hunger and Poverty, Kwenda and the participatory budget have been manifested in a true way of breaking taboos that socioeconomic projects can only be carried out by ministries and contradict any skepticism regarding to the process of devolution of competences”, he stressed.
On the other hand, he made it known that the aim of the Fair was to create a space for presenting and exposing the potentialities of the municipalities, promoting the attraction of sustainable private investment in the municipalities in order to contribute to their economic and social development.
The objective of the event is also to make known the cultural mosaic of all municipalities in Angola, evaluate the implementation of projects and programs carried out by the Executive at local level, create a platform for permanent dialogue and debate between the administrative bodies central and local, civil society and business class.
He said that it also aims to share national and international strategies on local development, guarantee excellence in local governance and promote inter-municipal partnerships.
Taking place under the motto “Life is made in municipalities” from 10 to 13 August this year, in the city of Lubango, Huíla province, the fair will bring together 164 municipalities, ministries, national and international organizations, among others.
The previous edition took place in Benguela, in 2018, with the motto “A Vida Faz-Se Nos Municípios”.
