The East Regional Delegation of the National Bank of Angola (BNA) promoted, on the 6th and 7th of July, an ongoing campaign to reinforce the use of banking services for the population, in the city of Ndalatando (capital of Cuanza Norte), marked by the opening of bank accounts with initial deposits from 100 kwanzas.
The campaign was developed in partnership with several commercial banks.
At the end, the technician from the regional representation of the BNA, Faustino Francisco João, clarified that the referred campaign is part of the actions of financial education of the population.
It is part of the national program to strengthen the formalization of the economy, which plans to provide banking services for around 75 percent of the country’s population by 2026.
He added that the BNA, as the regulatory body of the national financial system, designed a program to insert the population into the financial system, through the promotion of fairs in places of high population concentration (markets).
This program is being implemented in partnership with commercial banks, through the opening of bank accounts, term deposits and provision of other services.
For the fair that took place on the 4th of February market, in Ndalatando, the participating banks made available to the population services for opening a bankita account, growing savings account, simplified account and simplified merchant account, in addition to other offers.
To open a bankita account, he said, the customer is required a symbolic amount of 100 kwanzas and for the bankita account to grow, the interested party must make a deposit of 1000 kwanzas.
To open a business account, which entitles the merchant to an automatic payment terminal (TPA), an initial deposit of 20,000 kwanzas is required.
The person in charge said that more than 100 citizens were served on the first day of the fair, with the bankita account being the most popular.
Faustino Francisco said that the population’s banking process will continue until the end of the current year, through fairs in various municipalities in the provinces comprising the eastern region of the National Bank of Angola.
In Cuanza Norte, after Ndalatando, the process will continue in the municipalities of Cambambe, Golungo Alto, Lucala, Samba Cajú and Ambaca.
The banks of Poupança e Crédito (BPC), Internacional de Crédito (BIC) and Fomento Angola (BFA) took part in the campaign.
He clarified that, as a result of an adhesion agreement signed with the BNA, the participation process in the said campaigns is mandatory for BPC, BFA, BIC, SOL and Económico banks.
