Dispute between Carlota and Nyriam marks the end of the swimming national

Africa-Press – Angola. The dispute between Carlota Silva, resident in Portugal, and Nyriam Morais, the fastest indoor swimmer, in the 50m freestyle, 200 and 50m butterfly, was the main note that marked the absolute National Swimming Championship, which ended Sunday at the Alvalade swimming pool .

Carlota, who marked her debut in the national competition, won the 50 free with a time of 28.50, having registered a strong dispute with the best internal child swimmer Nyriam, from the CNIL, who, due to a delay of 58 tenths (29.08) took the silver.

In the 100m butterfly, the two showed rivalry in the water, with a lot of “sprint”, but Carlota again surpassed the children’s MVP of Zonal IV de África, with a distance of five seconds, when clocking 1:08.67 against 1:13.88 made by Nyriam, in second place.

At the age of 14, Carlota, who swam in the individual model, finished the three events with records, the first by Catarina Sousa in the 50 m freestyle (28.73), in 2015, the second (1:10.07), obtained by Elsa Freire, in 1989.

In the 50m butterfly, she broke the previous record (30.99) produced this year by her opponent.

Due to their performances, both are the main candidates, in females, to represent Angola in the world cup in Athens (Greece), next August.

In the General classification, 1o de Agosto won the event with 59 medals, 29 gold, 14 silver and 16 bronze, CNIL was second with 49, including 11 gold, 25 silver and 13 bronze.

Carlota with three gold medals was third.
