Africa-Press – Angola. Forty-four domestic and foreign companies in agriculture, telecommunications, construction, farming, banking, service provision and fashion are present at the 15th edition of the Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Fair of Cunene ”EXPO-Cunene”.
The exhibition, open from the 10th to the 20th of this month, is organized by the Provincial Government of Cunene and the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the aim of celebrating the 10th of July, the date on which the province’s 53rd anniversary is marked.
At the opening, the provincial governor, Gerdina Didalelwa, considered that the event represents an opportunity for local businessmen to show their potential and take advantage of business opportunities, as well as attracting investments to the province, capable of supporting development.
The minister said she hoped that Expo Cunene would become a true business exchange and dynamic commercial exchanges, providing future investments that would contribute to improving the offer of services to the population, as well as increasing job opportunities for youth.
The official stressed that the realization of Expo Cunene 2023 gradually resumes with the normal functioning of economic activities that brings together the business and entrepreneurial class of the province, after the Covid-19 pandemic, which affected the world economy.
In this regard, he called for the involvement of the business class in the recovery of the economy, making its invaluable contribution to development, opening up new prospects for the well-being of the population.
Despite the difficult economic situation the country is going through, he underlined that the Angolan Executive has done everything to provide businessmen with financial support through different programmes.
Founded by General Pereira N’dença, the anniversary of the Province of Cunene marks the detachment of the region from the then Administrative Council of Huíla, on July 10, 1970.
Under the motto “53 years of Unity, Work and Progress”, the celebrations in the province encompass a vast programme, which include, in addition to the fair, the inauguration of various economic and social undertakings, the holding of cattle auctions, recreational, sports and religious.
