Africa-Press – Angola. Eight hundred and 54 vulnerable families in the municipality of Nharêa, Bié province, benefited this Wednesday from basic food baskets, as part of the actions of the local Administration to fight hunger and poverty.
Acquired under the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty, the distribution of basic food baskets, made up of rice, sugar, pasta, vegetable oil, soap, kitchen salt and other products, aims to alleviate the difficulties of families who are in vulnerable situations.
Speaking to the press, the administrator of Nharêa, Neves Bambi Jamba Chissonde, said that the goods would be handed over to orphans, widows, people with disabilities and the elderly.
He said that local authorities are working to obtain more financial resources, with a view to assisting more families living in poverty.
To this end, he invited the local business community to join the efforts of the municipal administration, with a view to showing solidarity with those most in need.
With the same purpose, in the province of Bié, along with the municipality of Nharêa, others such as Cuito, Andulo, Catabola, Chinguar, Cunhinga have already provided similar acts for the most disadvantaged.
The municipality of Nharêa has an estimated population of 113,675 inhabitants, mostly peasants, spread over the municipalities of Caieie, Dando, Gamba, Lubia and Sede.
