Africa-Press – Angola. The National Basketball Team lost again, today (Friday), in Luanda, this time against a similar team in Tunisia, by 65-68, at AFROCAN ́2023, taking place in the country, and will now face Nigeria (Saturday ), in the fight for seventh and eighth place.
In the match, today, for the rankings from fifth to eighth place, Angola was unable to overcome the Tunisians, after being eliminated, Thursday, from the quarter-finals, by Rwanda, with the defeat of 63-73, sent to consolation dispute.
The challenge, which at half-time registered a tie of 31 points, without the Angolans showing a positive attitude towards the opponent, who showed experience and dexterity, when in possession of the ball.
In the second half, uncertainty in the crucial bids was again present in the hosts of the Angolan team, which came out at a disadvantage at halftime, by 51-56.
In the final stage, the hosts woke up and went to get the difference they brought, even reaching a draw and moving forward, by three points.
Despite this, more enlightened, the North Africans used free throws to hold back the challenge, consequently moving forward, with a 68-65 victory.
Even today, also for the qualifiers, Kenya won the similar Nigeria, by 61-59. Angola will play, Saturday (10h00), in the farewell against Nigeria, and Kenya will face Tunisia, in the fight for fifth place.
The semi-finals will be between Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), while Rwanda will face Côte d’Ivoire.
