Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, assured this Tuesday, in Luanda, that Angola, in order to take full advantage of the benefits of the economy, will continue to invest in digital infrastructure.

Speaking at the event that marked the opening ceremony of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA), João Lourenço promised that the country will also continue to invest in infrastructure linked to broadband networks, expand the fiber optic network and explore maximum the capabilities that the ANGOSAT satellite offers.

Likewise, according to the Head of State, the country will expand access to the internet, promote digital inclusion and the development of digital skills, create a favorable regulatory environment and encourage technological innovation and digital entrepreneurship.

For the Holder of Executive Power, the digital economy plays a fundamental role in the development and growth of countries.

“As the world becomes increasingly digitally connected, it is essential that Angola follows the trend and takes advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital economy to boost its economic and social progress”, he defended.

In his view, by removing physical or geographic barriers, the digital economy allows markets to be closer, technological innovation to be more accessible and entrepreneurship more vibrant.

He emphasized that the adoption of digital technologies can improve the efficiency and productivity of companies and organizations.

João Lourenço added that the automation of processes, the digitalization of documents, the implementation of management systems and data analysis can help to optimize operations, reduce costs and improve the quality of products and services, including in the public sector.

In his speech, the President of the Republic thanked national and foreign businessmen for their confidence in the political and economic reforms that the Executive is carrying out and for having accepted the invitation to exhibit their products and services at this FILDA.

He noted that the Angolan Executive has great confidence in the role of the private sector in the economy, as he believes that Angola will only have a strong and competitive economy if it has a strong business class.

The fair encourages exchange and diversification, bringing together national and foreign entrepreneurs in all its editions to establish business contacts, commercial and diplomatic relations with Angola.

With more than a thousand participants, the exhibitors will display products and services that will be on display until the 22nd of this month, in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), under the motto “Digital economy as the new frontier of the world economy”.
