Africa-Press – Angola. The thirty Angolans from Ukraine have been in Luanda since the early hours of today. It was precisely zero hours and 20 minutes when the Boeing 777 landed at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda, with special passengers, where a strong government delegation was waiting, accompanied by teams to provide the due reception.
The Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, the Minister of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women, Faustina Alves, and the Governor of Luanda, Ana de Carvalho , welcomed fellow citizens returning to the country as a result of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
On the airport runway, the mobilization was total. Journalists, airport officials and government officials were looking forward to seeing Angolans from the war zone in Ukraine, despite having already been accommodated for a few days in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who accompanied the delegation, wearing a helmet with the colors of the national flag, was the first to leave the aircraft, followed by the thirty “returnees”, who passed one by one in front of the government delegation headed by by the Minister of State and Head of the Military House, Francisco Furtado, for the usual greeting, in such circumstances, with a bow, in obedience to the measures to combat Covid-19.
The Minister of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion, Faustina Alves, welcomed the fellow citizens, having assured that the conditions to welcome them in the country are created, from accommodation, medical and food assistance. “It is a great joy to welcome our compatriots”, she said, visibly moved and with open hands, as a sign of thanks to everyone.
Faustina Alves regretted the behavior of most Angolans who fled Ukraine preferring not to return to the country. “The Executive has already done its part”, underlined the minister.
The delegation left the track and went to the testing center, to screen for Covid-19. The Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, explained, by the way, about the conditions of accommodation and stay. “Two citizens tested positive,” reported Mufinda. “These will be isolated in a previously prepared area, where they will be monitored properly, while the others will stay in one of the hotels in Luanda for seven days. The aircraft’s commander, João Amaral, said that the trip went smoothly and that only in the city of Warsaw-Poland, encountered some difficulties in terms of organization on the part of the Angolan embassy staff, which caused the flight to be delayed.
Fernandes Ventura, 24, is one of the Angolans who left Ukraine, passed through Poland and arrived in the country yesterday. Ventura lived in the city of Dnipro, where he was a master’s student in oil and gas engineering.
Jonice Coelho, 28, is another citizen who came from Poland, fleeing the war in Ukraine. She lived 11 years in that country, where she graduated in general medicine and was doing her specialty in surgical obstetrics gynecology. “I feel at home now,” but I left it all behind.

Of the 277 citizens welcomed in Warsaw, only 30 accepted to embark for Angola, with the rest deciding to remain on Polish soil at their own risk, which exempts the Angolan State from any responsibility for these citizens, except for possible consular support.
Within the scope of the Pan-Africanist vocation of the Republic of Angola, the Government agreed to transport, in the same plane, citizens of other countries on our continent.
