Africa-Press – Angola. The Bank of Commerce and Industry (BCI) will provide 40 billion kwanzas to small farmers, in the regions where its main partner, Carrinho Agri, is implementing the acquisition of production, in order to intensify the agro -business in the real economy and family farming.
These are the provinces of Huíla, Cuanza Sul, Cuanza Norte, Benguela, Malanje and Huambo, where Carrinho Agri asserts itself as a pioneer in the process of agricultural transformation in Angola.
The aim of this Grupo Carrinho subsidiary is to focus on the development of small local farmers, moving them from subsistence farming to a business that works and thrives in the market.
The information was released Thursday, in Lubango, by the executive director of BCI, Jardel Duarte, within the framework of participation in the 30th edition of Expo-Huíla, which runs since Wednesday, under the motto “Pensar Angola ”, an event with 320 national and foreign companies from different areas of business and exhibiting goods and services until Sunday.
Jardel Duarte considered real agriculture to be the most important step that the economy could take, as it guarantees the entire ecosystem, from the creation of crops to the final production of the entire necessary food chain, and the country has the potential to do so.
“We have made significant funds available, we are aiming to give 40 billion kwanzas to, together with our main partner, intensify agribusiness in the real economy, in family farming and it is a fantastic opportunity for us to be dynamic and contribute in some way towards this goal”, he alluded.
From this perspective, he explained, the amount to be financed goes up to 10 million kwanzas, which help family farming to take the initial steps, from the purchase of seeds, means of work to start the activity, but above all the instruction that is given directly by Carrinho Agri, so that producers are able to support themselves.
He underlined that the Bank is working directly with the various supports that the State has given, whose interest rates are fixed at 7.5%, as indicated in Notice 10.
According to the executive director, BCI brought to EXP-Huíla a range of products and services, within the scope of agribusiness and also to support the civil service in terms of financing, specifically salary advances.
