Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, hopes, this Thursday, that the 43rd SADC Summit, taking place in the Angolan capital, can take decisions that contribute to its growth and reinforcement of regional integration.
The President of the Republic of Angola was speaking as host of the 43rd SADC Summit, whose motto is centered on sustainable industrialization and the inclusive development of the regional community, having human and financial capital as a basic pillar.
He considered it important that during the work of the Summit they could take advantage of the experience of each Member State and gather the best contributions for the intended success of the great event.
“It is in this atmosphere that I want to wish you a good and productive stay in Luanda, so that the forum is a worthy success, with a beneficial and lasting impact on our region”, stressed the President of the Republic.
He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the fact that the Statesmen made themselves available to travel to Angola, to participate “in this which is the most important event that our Community holds annually, thus testifying to the relevance that SADC has for all of us”.
He welcomed Luanda, which has become the capital of this important African regional organization, and conveyed the wish that, a broad reflection could be carried out on matters involving SADC, taking decisions that contribute to the its growth and reinforcement of regional integration.
The Angolan statesman highlighted the fact that this is the third time that the Republic of Angola has been designated by this Regional Organization to hold the great event.
“This fact represents, for us, the clear recognition of the Member States to the ever visible commitment that our country has with the most important causes of the Southern African Development Community”, he pointed out.
Angola will receive the testimony to lead the organization of SADC, until August 2024, during the holding of the Summit of Heads of State and Government, replacing the DRC.
Headquartered in Gaborone (Botswana), one of SADC’s major objectives is to make the region industrialized by 2063, as set out in the organization’s Strategy and Roadmap, approved by the Heads of State and Government, in April 2015, for the period 2015-2063.
Created in August 1992, SADC is made up of Angola, South Africa Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
