Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, arrives this Sunday in Luanda, for a state visit to Angola.
According to a note made available the program includes a meeting with the Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, and talks between the ministerial delegations of both countries.
The two Heads of State will witness, at the Presidential Palace, in Cidade Alta, the signing of agreements.
The program reserves presence in the National Assembly, to speak before the Angolan deputies.
The partnership between Angola and Cuba is based on the General Cooperation Agreement, signed in February 1976, covering the sectors of Health and Education.
Cuba has been a strategic partner of Angola since independence in 1975 and supported the country in the war against the apartheid regime in South Africa.
The Caribbean State has trained many Angolan staff and aspires to greater involvement in economic cooperation with Angola.
