Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, this Saturday urged the troops of the Central Military Region (RMC) to do more in the process of consolidating the organizational and functional structure of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
The minister was speaking during the act of presentation, to the staff of this military sector, which covers the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Cuanza Sul and Huambo (headquarters), of the new Chief of Staff General of the FAA, aviation general Altino Carlos José dos Santos, appointed and sworn in last January.
During the event, which took place in the city of Huambo, the minister defended the need for personnel from the Central Military Region to provide the necessary support to the CEMG-FAA in fulfilling its mission, with a view to achieving the established objectives.
“I urge you to provide all the support and collaboration that the head of the General Staff of the FAA needs so that it can continue, successfully, and ensure the leadership in the process of consolidation of the organizational and functional structure of the military body of the country”, said the ruler.
These actions, according to João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, must be carried out in obedience and in accordance with the directive of the President of the Republic, as Commander-in-Chief, which aims at restructuring, resizing and re-equipping the FAA with tasks in course and methods to be acquired in good time.
On the occasion, the minister considered the aviation general Altino dos Santos as a political-military professional, with trajectory, experience and academic training, military technique up to the challenges of the military body.
On his turn, the Chief of the General Staff of the FAA, Aviation General Altino Carlos José dos Santos, made it known that the Angolan Armed Forces are committed to the restructuring, modernization and re-equipment process to face any challenge where the man factor constitutes the main priority.
Accordingly, he appealed to the military of the different branches of the military body to continue to assume their responsibilities in the execution of the program of operational, combative and educational-patriotic preparation, judging by the privileged geographical position of Angola in terms of the African continent, where a set of fires of tension and military instability that requires permanent monitoring and attention.
In this regard, he highlighted the fact that the country assumed the rotating presidency of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), during the 4th conference of Heads of State and Government of member countries.
Addressing the staff of the RMC, he recommended the need to assume a leading role in the observance of discipline and compliance with the patriotic values that characterize the FAA.
The aviation general reiterated the continuous fight against practices contrary to military deontology, above all, the negative exposure on digital platforms, with the responsibility of its eventual authors, so that such acts are discouraged.
Named head of the General Staff of the FAA in January of this year, by Presidential Decree, aviation general Altino Carlos José dos Santos has already exercised the functions of head of the Main Directorate of Planning of the General Staff of the FAA and Force Commander National Air.
Before his presentation to the staff of the Central Military Region, in an act witnessed by the governor of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, he was presented to members of the provincial government.
Similar acts have already been carried out in the military regions of Cabinda, North and East. After Huambo, the delegation headed to the province of Huíla to carry out the same act in the Southern Region.
