The idea, according to him, is to bring together young people who walk the streets, without occupation, and attract them to the various sports.

“We are also working with the clubs to see their working conditions improved”, he said.

Regarding the new basketball champion, he expressed his satisfaction, for being another trophy for the province, and encouraged the club to continue its efforts so that more young people embrace the sport.

Regarding the sports clubs that evolve in Girabola, the deputy governor said that they have occasionally provided some support so that they continue to represent the province.

As an example, he gave the recent participation of Académica do Lobito, which is participating in the “Nelson Mandela” Cup.

“We are working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to together create the conditions required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the Ombaka stadium, so that the team stops playing at home”, he underlined.

In turn, the chairman of the Porto do Lobito House of Staff for the sports area, António Cassona, explained that the under-14s will rest for a few days and then return to work, to participate in the next provincial championship and then move on to other competitions.

As for the senior team, he said that he is currently in Luanda playing preparation games with a view to Unitel Basketball, to take place in the coming months of September and October.

“In the last two participations we managed to be in the play-offs, reaching sixth place, but we intend to make history, aiming for fourth or even third place”, said António Cassoma.
