Diamond sector expects bad results this year

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola expects bad financial results in the diamond sector this year, because production is not being sold as it should be, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Endiama, José Ganga Júnior, said.

The cause, according to the Endiama manager, has to do with the fact that India – the main market that currently receives more than 90% of Angola’s production, has stopped purchasing diamonds. “You will not receive diamonds from anywhere until December 15, 2023”, highlighted Ganga Júnior.

“We are producing, we haven’t stopped, but we are not selling as we should. Still, we have to be resilient and hold on, which is why this year the results will not be very good”, said the person in charge, highlighting that companies are experiencing difficulties at the moment.

In addition to India, the PCA reported that diamonds from Angola are also sold to Dubai and Belgium.

Currently, 16 companies linked to diamond exploration and around 41 projects are in prospection operate in the Angolan market.

José Ganga Júnior gave this news, on the sidelines of the joint workshop between Endiama -EP and the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) for the use of communication services from the ANGOSAT-2 satellite, held friday in Luanda.

In the workshop aimed at the Minas Gerais company, a space technology called TECH-MINAS was presented, which offers solutions to the Minas Gerais industry, in locating minerals with precision, generating alerts and monitoring the activity of the industries.

“In the past, some companies had to subcontract services from abroad to obtain geological information,” said the president, highlighting that at the moment it is possible to obtain geological data in the country and pay in national currency – the Kwanza, which is cheaper and does not require foreign currency. .

He highlighted that Endiama is already using TECH-MINAS in its mining projects such as Sacamanda and Luachimbo.

As for satisfaction, he said that Endiama covers 100% of needs, “which is why it is an important tool for savings and for us to be more effective. We are transmitting this knowledge to all companies in Minas Gerais so that they can evaluate and also use it, as it is available”, said the source.

When asked about the situation of mining in the country, he said that it has to be combated and this tool allows, even from an office, to see where there is mining, its incidence, and how to combat it. “It is also one of the objectives to use it in this field”, he said.

He stated that mining brings losses to companies and the concessionaire, as it is horrible and must be combated.

Regarding the money involved in mining trafficking, he said that it is still large and significant, but he cannot quantify it exactly.

Endiama EP is a national company, founded on January 15, 1981, dedicated to prospecting, exploring and selling diamonds.
