Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of National Defense and Homeland Veterans announced, in Saurimo (Lunda-Sul), the re-registration of 77,519 pensioners throughout the country, in the second phase of the census and control process.
João Ernesto dos Santos, who was speaking on Tuesday, on the occasion of the Expansion Day of the National Liberation Struggle, marked on the 15th of this month, praised the bravery and spirit of mission shown by the “heroes of the homeland who, for 61 years, fought, without fear, against the colonial yoke to remove the Angolan people from suffering and slavery”.
He highlighted that this was the end of the proof of life, a stage that allowed the individual processes and proof of the existence of the staff to be reconsidered, admitting that the number could increase, as many pensioners, for various reasons, did not re-register.
The minister said that they may do so by submitting a complaint, under the terms of the legislation in force. He underlined the need to validate the situation of everyone who, for external reasons, “did not undergo the proof of life,” at a time when the second phase of the process culminated.
“The year 2022, from a legislative point of view, marks important moments, where the general elections scheduled for next August call for the participation of all Angolans with the capacity to vote, regardless of the party in which they militate, as long as they update their personal data with the BUAP”, he reaffirmed.
Speaking as host, Governor Daniel Neto praised the choice of the province for the competent central structures to host the event that exalts the patriotism of heroes and wished a good stay to the ministerial delegation.
In the context of Social Protection, the minister said that preliminary work was underway for the issuance of the Identification Card of the Former Combatant and Homeland Veteran, as well as for the approval of a Draft Law on Special Protection for this fringe of society.
As for the celebration of March 15, minister João Ernesto dos Santos said that it takes place in a year when the country is looking forward to celebrating the centenary of the nation’s founder, António Agostinho Neto, on 17 September.
