“I am very happy to participate in this artistic residency, within the scope of the international symposium on contemporary art and the centenary of the philosopher Eduardo Lourenço. I am exchanging experiences with artists of other nationalities”, he said.

The municipality of Guarda, in Portugal, organizes, from the 9th to the 19th of this month, the seventh edition of the International Symposium of Contemporary Art – Cidade da Guarda (SIAC), which brings together several Portuguese and international artists. The initiative is based on exhibitions, live art production and artistic training, as well as shows and concerts. The topic “The Laboratory of Saudade” serves as a guiding theme for the planned cultural event that encompasses several artistic languages: painting, drawing, engraving, sculpture, installation and performance.
This time, the aim is to bring SIAC closer to the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Eduardo Lourenço (1923-2020), author of the essay “0 Labirinto da Saudade”, an unavoidable milestone in his vast work and whose title inspires the proposed theme, to celebrate a unique figure of 20th century European culture, evoke the life and work of the painter from Guarda Evelina Coelho (1945-2013) and challenge national and international visual artists, some of them with roots in our region.
