The Angolan Executive has promoted structural changes in the minerals subsector, with a view to making the business environment more favorable to prospecting, exploration, transformation and commercialization of mineral resources, the Secretary of State for Mineral Resources reiterated this Tuesday , Jânio Correia Victor.
According to the official, at the Angola-France Business Forum in the Mining Sector, the country since 2017 has been creating conditions to enable prospecting, exploration, transformation and commercialization of mineral resources.
Addressing the French business delegation present at the forum, he said that one of the main objectives is the attraction and capture of direct private foreign investment.
Regarding investment opportunities in Angola, the Secretary of State spoke of Angola’s enormous mineral potential, in the field of precious metals, as well as the project to promote the prospecting and exploration of gold, and develop the capacity for processing and refining this metal, with the construction of the Gold Refinery in Luanda.
In relation to ornamental rocks, the leader informed French businesspeople of the project to increase the number of quarries in production and promote the construction of the Ornamental Rocks Development Pole in the province of Namibe.
To this end, Jânio Correia Victor reiterated that the Angolan Executive will continue to support producers to increase the production of ornamental rocks and ferrous metals.
In this regard, the leader presented the country’s intention to produce steel for civil construction, using iron ore from Kassinga, through the Cutato-Cuchi iron project in Namibe province.
Likewise, the official pointed out to French businesspeople the exploration of copper, manganese, niobium and rare earths, as investment opportunities, based on the Kitota Project in the provinces of Cuanza Norte and Malanje.
The edition of the Angola-France Business Forum in the Mining Sector took place under the motto “Angola: Mining Potential and Business Opportunities”, jointly organized by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPET) and the French Embassy in Angola.
