Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, is already in Saurimo, capital of the province of Lunda-Sul, for a two-day working visit to the region.
Upon arrival, at Deolinda Rodrigues Airport, President João Lourenço was received by Governor Daniel Félix Neto, members of the provincial government and the population.
The Head of State’s agenda included, among others, the inauguration of a mining project and a meeting with the local government, for a generic assessment of the situation in that district.
The Head of State’s last trip to the province of Lunda-Sul took place in June 2022.
With an estimated population of around 609,851 inhabitants, the province of Lunda-Sul is made up of the municipalities of Cacolo, Saurimo, Dala and Muconda.
The mining industry is the most important sector of activity in the region.
The province’s current industrial park is made up of Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, whose main activity is diamond extraction.
In the agricultural sector, the province has climatic conditions for the cultivation of roots, tubers, legumes and cereals, with emphasis on rice cultivation.
President João Lourenço returns to Luanda Tuesday morning.
