Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Angolan Theater Association (AAT), Tony Frampênio, advocated the need for the organization to play the real role of legal interlocutor with public institutions and patrons, both nationally and internationally.
In recent statements to Jornal de Angola, the playwright assured that he has well-defined policies for the advancement of the performing arts in the country and abroad.
Adelino Caracol’s successor is designing better theater policies in the country to privilege the interests of the class, in which the action program is summarized in three fundamental axes, namely institution, training and artistic management, which will be implemented in the short term. , medium and long term.
Although he is aware that he has an ambitious program, he compared his team’s challenges to the construction of a building, in this case the AAT, which must be built with capable and “experienced” people in the field.
He pointed out as the main force of action, among the strategic lines to develop AAT, exploring the potential of members, through careful management of raising resources and alternative sources of financing, creation of permanent research units, in order to constitute centers of knowledge and innovation, and diversify the areas of knowledge, by expanding the curricular offer to train a professional person, with the opening of a training center.
According to the director and head of the Enigma Teatro group, the elected management has a lot to offer AAT, as it guarantees that it has extensive experience in teaching activities in public and private higher education establishments, as well as extensive experience in managing theater groups and projects for over 30 years in artistic direction and administrative management roles.
Strategic objectives
Among the strategic objectives of the author of the work “A Rage” are the promotion of intercultural learning through cooperatives, increasing the involvement of members with the AAT in research or creative activities, developing programs aimed at stimulating and increasing the capabilities of members and develop partnerships with local, national and international bodies.
Cultivating the spirit of artistic fraternity among AAT members is part of the line of action, creating the projects “Casa do Teatro”, “Roda na Fogueira”, implementation of the association’s Honor Committee, based on the founding members of the association, the outgoing presidents, the suitability of the members and precursors of the Angolan theater.
Another strategy is to promote theater in communities and schools through courses, seminars, debate forums, festivals and competitions.
Along this path, he mentioned that there are plans to organize festivals and competitions in each province, the National Theater Festival and to hold a National Theater Meeting, with the aim of designing a global and inclusive vision, as well as promoting a national cultural itinerary.
He said that he intends to collaborate with the Executive, through the 6th Committee of the National Assembly, in order to promote the interpretation of Angolan theater dossiers, its importance in the pacification of spirits and culture of peace, with a view to benefiting from the status of entity of collective management of Copyright and Related Rights, to dignify those involved in dramaturgy in the country.
It also intends to elevate the AAT to the status of a Public Utility institution, propose the monetary update of the National Culture and Arts Prize and collaborate with the National Youth Council (CNJ), in order to guide and formalize the theater activity, practiced by more of 15 thousand young people across the country.
He spoke of the possibility of studying with banking institutions a model for granting credit to theater groups, to develop sustainability projects, in accordance with PRODESI, PAC and the National Development Plan, taking into account that leisure, through artistic practice , is also an essential good.
Profile of the new AAT president
Tony Frampênio is the pseudonym of Francisco Pedro António, originally from Cuanza Sul. Playwright and director, graduated in Theater from the Instituto Superior de Artes (ISART), currently the Faculty of Arts at the University of Luanda. Master in Teaching Literature in the Portuguese Language, from the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences (ISCED) and also training in Planning and Evaluation of Cultural Projects (Procultura), at the Camões Institute, in 2023.
He is the author of the works “A Lata Vazia” (2000), “O Pensamento do dia” (2001), “A Casa dos Loucos” (2002), “Adrenalina Pura” (2003), “Se não Fossem as Mulheres” ( 2004), “Apaixonados por Engano” (2005), “Sambatchuca” (2006), “Borboleta ou Barata?” (2007) and “De Luandinha a Luanda para Luandão” (2007). He won the award for Best Staging and Best Actor at the City of Luanda Award, 2008 edition.
It also has the following plays: “A Grande Questão” (2008), third place in the City of Luanda Prize, in 2009, “A Raiva” (2009), winner of the City of Luanda Prize, in 2010, “Na Corda Bamba” ( 2010); ..” (2015), winner of the Angola Independente Award 40 years (2015), “Be careful with the Dog” (2016), “Disinquilinados” (2017) “Amigas e Rivais” (2017).
He also created the pieces “In the street of dogs, another type of dog” (2018), “Assalto ao BNA” (2019), “Mamã Bombó” in 2019, adaptations of the book “Quem me dera ser onda”, by Manuel Rui , and “Cangalanga, the Crazy of the Cahoios”, by José Mena Abrantes.
He published some literary works: “A Raiva”, in 2021, “A Grande Questão”, (2021), “Teatro da Tarimba” (essay), in 2021 and “Teatro da Ampulheta” (study), in 2023.
