Africa-Press – Angola. The National Senior Women’s Handball Team lost, this Thursday, against France, by 29-30, in a game of the 1st round, group D, of the World Championship, organized jointly between Norway, Denmark and Sweden .
The African champions were not intimidated by the defending runners-up, trailing at half-time by just three goals (15-18), in a match in which they began to win until the 17th minute.
Angola lost the game in detail. With possession of the ball in the last seconds, and an unfavorable score of 29-30, Isabel Guialo shot towards the side post, missing the equalizer which would have been the fairest result.
Twenty-three losses of the ball, successive technical errors, at alternate moments of the match, contributed to the narrow defeat of the team, whose performance bewildered the opponent, initially seen as the clear favorite.
Angolan Azenaide Carlos was elected the most valuable player of the match (MVP), while Isabel Guialo, the captain of the national team, was the top scorer, with six goals.
The national seven evolves again on Saturday, against Slovenia, for the 2nd round of the competition, which for the first time takes place in three countries, namely Denmark, Norway and Sweden, with 32 competing teams.
