Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan musician Barceló de Carvalho (Bonga) was awarded, on Thursday, in France, the Music of the World prize, awarded by the French Society of Authors’ Rights (SACEM).
According to a note from the organization, the SACEM award is a non-profit civil society, which is owned and managed by its members, the authors, composers and music publishers.
Bonga, considered the ambassador of Angolan music, has more than 400 compositions of his own, 32 albums and seven film soundtracks. And it is also a sales record holder.
In 2014, he was decorated by the French Embassy in Angola, with the insignia of Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters, and in 2018 the Angolan State decorated him with the Medal of Bravery and Civic and Social Merit, 1st Class, as part of the celebrations of the 43rd anniversary of national independence.
He received numerous popularity and honor awards. Her themes have been interpreted by the most diverse artists, being an obligatory reference in African culture and a calling card across borders.
