More than 19 thousand families benefit from basic food baskets

Africa-Press – Angola. Nineteen thousand and 83 families benefited from basic food baskets, from December 2022 to November this year, in an initiative by the Angolan Executive, aimed at helping communities affected by the cyclical drought that devastates the province of Cunene.

The Executive, through the Ministry of Territorial Administration (MAT), made 328 tons of various goods available, with emphasis on rice, sugar, salt, oil, pasta, beans, corn flour and preserves.

The Civil Protection and Fire Services had the mission of distributing goods to families affected by the drought, according to the head of the Institutional Communication and Press area of ​​this institution, Andrade Huamba.

Speaking on Tuesday, the official highlighted that 20 million and 116 cubic meters of drinking water were also distributed to populations in the areas most affected by the drought.

He informed that similar initiatives will continue, in order to mitigate the effects of the drought in the province.

This year, 207 thousand 987 people were affected by the drought, in the municipalities of Cuanhama, Namacunde, Cuvelai, Curoca, Namacunde and Cahama, Cunene province .

The Civil Protection and Fire Services completed 42 years of existence on November 30th.
