Africa-Press – Angola. Economist António Feliciano Braça said this Wednesday, in Huambo, that the reinforcement of strategic cooperation between Angola and the United States of America (USA) allows attracting more foreign investment to the national and African economy, in general.
The economist was speaking to the press about the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, last Thursday, in Washington, DC, USA, where he spoke with his North American counterpart, Joe Biden, about the opening of strategic partnerships in areas of interest, such as energy, transport, space exploration and other sectors.
According to António Braça, the agreements signed between the two States will allow the capture of more North American investments in the Angolan market, creating more companies and local employability, as well as the establishment of partnerships for the production of strategic minerals in Africa.
He pointed out that the meeting between the two statesmen, in addition to indicating good diplomatic relations, represented a great gain for the Angolan economy, as it reinforced American investment in solar energy projects and the Lobito Corridor, with the aim of stimulating the flow of diverse products from Angola to the southern region of the African continent/ vice versa.
He mentioned that these are actions that presuppose economic growth in Angola in the coming years, which demonstrates the creation of an increasingly solid relationship between the two States.
To this end, António Braça said it is important that Angolan businesspeople adopt partnership mechanisms with the secondary sector, due to the fact that Angola is still unable to transform agricultural raw materials into finished products, for the greater income and necessary employability.
It suggests that, as a result of the meeting between João Lourenço and Joe Biden, which demonstrates credibility in Angola’s political and economic management, solid foundations will be created in the shortest possible time for attracting more foreign investment in the private sector, for the growth of local and African economy.
João Lourenço’s trip to Washington took place as part of the celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Angola and the USA, formalized in 1993, by the then North American President Bill Clinton.
In three decades, the two States have deepened exchanges, with regular visits by authorities, businesspeople and other actors, which has allowed sharing experiences in various areas.
