Jóia Eduardo, a public servant, said it was an exaggeration that two weeks ago a kilo of cod cost just five and six thousand Kwanzas, depending on the size, and today 15 to 25 thousand Kwanzas, respectively.
He requested the intervention of inspectors to restore legality, because even the city of Saurimo has an egg production aviary.
He stated that if prices continue like this, he would prefer to have a dinner with basic products, so that the family can celebrate the holidays and reflect on what to do next year, as well as save for future projects.
Isabel Wanga, a resident, said that whenever December arrives, prices rise and if they stay that way, the only option is to purchase cheaper goods, as long as they are enough to feed your family, taking into account takes into account the variety of products available in various markets.
He recalled that Christmas is a unique festival, where friends, children, parents and various personalities come together to eat as an organized family and reflect deeply on socio-economic life.

He recognized that at this time prices are skyrocketing and there is a lot of demand for products, but not everyone has “full pockets” to buy everything.
The trader also said that many customers ask and don’t take anything, accusing wholesale warehouses for the rise in product prices, which the competent authorities must monitor and take severe measures.
In turn, the head of the Directorate of the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA), in Lunda Sul, Dário José, stated that he is aware of possible practices of price speculation by economic agents based in Saurimo and will severely punish offenders.
He said that the institution, as part of its inspection activities, has been carrying out since November 15th a campaign called “Operation Christmas”, which will culminate in January 2024, with the aim of inspecting and monitoring the marketing chains of all products that make up the basket basic.
He guaranteed that the province has enough basic food products available, since trucks from Luanda to Saurimo arrive every day with various food items, as a result of the work that the Executive carries out on the EN/230.
