Africa-Press – Angola. The conclusion of a series of projects, carried out within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), in the province of Cunene, is changing the image of municipalities and guaranteeing improvements in services for the population.

Data from the Provincial Office of Studies, Planning and Statistics indicate that of the 124 social projects registered in the portfolio of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), a large part has been completed and inaugurated, with emphasis on schools, health centers, residences for teachers and nurses, earthworks and asphalting of streets, construction and rehabilitation of water supply systems.

Of the range of projects, 109 are the responsibility of the municipalities, 10 are the responsibility of the Provincial Government and five are under central subordination.

According to data from the Provincial Office of Studies, Planning and Statistics, the municipalities of Namacunde and Cuvelai, with 21 each, are the districts that benefited the most projects, Ombadja and Cuanhama with 19 each, Cahama with 16 and Curoca 13.

In Namacunde, it is worth highlighting the construction of four schools with seven classrooms each, in the locations of Chiedi, Oheyoka, Omulunga wa Shikongo and the municipal headquarters.

It is also worth noting the construction of nine T6 residential complexes for teachers and nurses, as well as the opening of three chimpacas to retain rainwater for watering livestock, all of which have already been completed.

In the municipality of Cuvelai, most of the projects have also been inaugurated, with emphasis on the opening of eight water holes, three schools, four residential complexes for teachers and nurses, and a municipal morgue with capacity for four drawers, as well as storage spaces. leisure at the Mukolongodjo headquarters.

In Ombadja, the priority was to reseal and asphalt the streets of the headquarters of Xangongo, construction of five residential complexes, rehabilitation and extension of the electrical and public lighting network in the headquarters, village of Peu-Peu, in the communal headquarters of Humbe, Mucope , Naulila and Ombala-yo-Mungo.

Cuanhama invested in improving services and maintaining the sanitation of drainage ditches, building and equipping health centers.

The municipality of Curoca focused its attention on arranging and equipping homes for nurses and teachers, and rehabilitating water systems.

Cahama prioritized the construction and equipping of seven residential complexes for teachers and nurses, two seven-room schools, a health center with capacity for 30 beds and cleaning and sanitation equipment.

This program aims to grant greater autonomy to municipalities, to effectively implement the decentralization of administrative powers and improve the lives of citizens.

The PIIM in Cunene generated a total of three thousand 520 jobs, recruited by the 195 companies that won the tenders for the works. The construction of schools, health units and drinking water supply systems, designed in the municipalities of Cuanhama, Cuvelai, Curoca, Cahama, Namacunde and Ombadja, within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), is reducing the movement of students and patients to other regions in search of academic training and primary health care.

The Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) aims to materialize Public Investment (PIP), Development Support Expenditure (DAD) and Basic Activities actions.

Its priority is social actions, in order to inhibit rural exodus and promote inclusive economic, social and regional growth in the country.
