Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, reaffirmed, this Monday, her total commitment to continue working to mitigate the multiple challenges faced daily by the homeland’s veterans, in ways that grant them greater dignity.
In the exhortation message distributed, on the occasion of the National Day of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, which is celebrated, under the motto “United in diversity, strong and firm in the construction of a better Angola”, he assured that the government would will do to dignify this important group of Angolan society.
Therefore, he urged them to remain firm and believe in better days, while the new generation must continue to honor and dignify the deeds of the valiant Angolan fighters.
He recognized that the former fighters and veterans of the country, who very early gave up their duties, their youth and embraced the liberation struggle, played an important and crucial role in the country achieving independence, achieving peace and national reconciliation. , achievements that should be praised every day.
For Angolans, according to the governor, the 15th of January constitutes the expression of the Executive’s deepest recognition and consideration for former combatants and veterans of the Fatherland, as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the preservation of national patriotic consciousness and a living example of youth education and future generations.
Lotti Nolika added that the celebration of the date aims to dignify the heroes of the national liberation struggle and defense of the homeland who, with blood and sweat, gave their best to achieve independence and safeguard the Angolan State.
The National Assembly established January 15 as Former Combatant and Veteran of the Fatherland Day, in honor of the date on which the three national liberation movements, MPLA, FNLA and UNITA, in 1975, sat at the same table, in Portugal, to discuss the future of Angola, namely the achievement of independence.
The date was established to honor and value all those who fought and made their contribution, so that Angola could free itself from colonial rule.
