Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred and seventy-seven (177) former combatants and veterans of the country received this Monday, in Cabinda, cards that give priority or exemption from payments in hospitals, public transport, as well as some fees related to public administration.

The handover took place in the Amphitheater of the Instituto Superior Politécnico, during the celebrations of the National Day of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, which is celebrated (15 January). ING

In the Province of Cuanza Sul, the vice-governor for the political, social and economic sector, Emília Tchinawalile, reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the lives of former combatants and veterans of the country and their families.

“We will continue to work to improve the quality of life of former combatants and veterans of the country and their families, as this is our focus”, he said in the event, which took place under the motto “United in diversity, strong and firm in construction of a better Angola”.

The sector’s provincial office controls 1,545 associates.

In the province of Cunene, the head of the organization, Eugénio Ndamenapossi, highlighted the advantages of the identification card and exemption from paying social service fees attributed to former combatants.

When speaking at the provincial event, he said that he reported that, in the first phase, 130 people benefited under these conditions.

“We must continue to publicize the deeds of these heroes to keep alive and translate the rescue of patriotism into historical facts, giving more value to the achievements achieved throughout the national territory”, he said.

Eugénio Ndamenapossi encouraged former combatants to renew hope for a better future, highlighting that the Executive is working to improve their social conditions.

Two 2,094 pensioners are registered in Cunene.
