Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Tanzania signed this Tuesday, in Zanzibar, four legal instruments to deepen exchanges between the two countries, within the scope of strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The instruments were signed during the II Session of the Bilateral Joint Commission by the head of Angolan diplomacy, Téte António, his Tanzanian counterpart, January Yusuf Makamba, and the Tanzanian Minister of Health, Ummy Mwalimu.
These are the Memorandums of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Oil and Gas, Visa Exemption in Diplomatic Passports, Service and Ordinaries, Health and the Verbal Process of the II Session of the Bilateral Joint Commission between Angola and United Republic of Tanzania.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Oil and Gas aims to establish a general framework to encourage mutual cooperation, in addition to sharing knowledge and experiences in the management and development of that industry.
This Memorandum also aims to promote cooperation and collaboration in the fields of oil and gas exploration, reinforce the technical capacity of national industry staff, as well as the exchange of information, data and common business opportunities.
The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the scope of Visa Exemption on Diplomatic, Service and Ordinary Passports aims to accommodate the visa application between citizens of the two countries holding the aforementioned Passports, facilitating their travels.
The Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Health provides for the strengthening of cooperation and capabilities in terms of training human resources, including specialized services.
It also aims to exchange specialized knowledge in organ and tissue transplantation, as well as in the field of assisted reproduction technologies, create resilient and sustainable systems in terms of reproductive, maternal and child mortality through best practices, and promote cooperation in research and innovation in the field of public health.
It also establishes the exchange of experiences and practices in terms of control of malaria vectors, the development of an exchange program in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy, as well as the production of orthoses and prosthetics.
The signing of these four instruments marks the turning of another page in bilateral relations between the two countries, thus doing justice to the history that dates back to the national liberation struggle.
This meeting took place 35 years after the first, hosted in Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania), where the two countries laid the first stone aimed at establishing a mechanism for bilateral consultations at diplomatic level, the in order to promote and expand economic, social, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation and establish a bilateral commission between the two countries.
