Africa-Press – Angola. The new public prosecutors for the districts of Cubal and Lobito were presented Wednesday, in this city, to members of the Provincial Government of Benguela.

These are Rui João da Luz, who will head the PGR in the Cubal district, and Indira Chitula Mendes, senior prosecutor in the Lobito district.

Speaking to the press, Rui da Luz promised to bring greater dynamism to the PGR’s operations in the Cubal region, with the support of new technologies.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office magistrate, it is necessary for both magistrates and other PGR employees to adjust their actions to new technologies in order to quickly respond to the challenges of the modern world.

Rui da Luz said that the challenges of the Cubal district are common in relation to the others, defending the need to improve the legal culture of the population.

The magistrate informed that the Cubal district has six prosecutors, three in the main municipality and the others in Caimbambo, Chongoroi and Ganda.

In turn, Indira Chitula Mendes promised to continue the work that has been developed by the PGR in the Lobito District and find solutions for each problem that arises.

The judge emphasized that the PGR has functions, duties and contributions that result from the Constitution of the Republic of Angola (CRA) and other laws.

The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic of the province of Benguela, Simão Cafala, said that the appointment of the two incumbents is the result of deliberation No. 7/2023, of 7 and 9 November, of the Superior Council of the Judiciary of the Public Ministry.

Simão Cafala urged the new district holders to prioritize their actions, always “anchored” in the CRA and the Organic Law of the Attorney General’s Office.

The province of Benguela has 40 public prosecutors.

The event, presided over by the vice-governor for the technical sector and infrastructures, Adilson Gonçalves, was attended by the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic and Coordinator of the Central Judiciary Region, Carlos dos Santos, and by the provincial delegate of the Ministry of the Interior, Aristófanes dos Santos, Provincial Director of Justice and Human Rights, Celdo Ndovala, among other members of the local government.
