Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of the OMA in Huíla, Maria Navita Francisco, urged Saturday, in Lubango, the organization’s members to redouble their efforts to expand their statistical base, from a qualitative and quantitative point of view, a task that must involve, simultaneously , the top and the base.
The leader who spoke at the end of the organization’s 62nd anniversary activities, marked on the 10th of the current month, stated that more work must be done in the mobilization process, not leaving this responsibility to the grassroots, but extending it to the leaders, also.
He declared that its members must mobilize their daughters, friends, neighbors, godmothers, service colleagues, among other women, so that in this way they can make the organization more attractive, inviting, where each one can see themselves, expose their worries and being able to walk.
He said that this mission must begin with the leaders, showing that OMA is a welcoming, comforting, fun organization of the future and a school.
He stated that the motto of the OMA’s 62nd anniversary, “Angolan Woman, Committed to the Country’s Socioeconomic Development”, leads to reflection on the need to carry out continuous work, which leads women to overcome their challenges.
He praised the work carried out at the level of the province’s 14 municipalities, encouraging municipal and communal secretaries and section coordinators to continue to expand OMA’s actions throughout the Huila territory.
He called on the organization’s members, at various levels, to equally embrace the fight against domestic violence, sexual abuse of minors and against illiteracy, which are lines defended by the OMA.
The OMA in Huíla controls 368 thousand 778 members, distributed across seven thousand 533 basic sections. This female branch of the MPLA was founded on January 10, 1962, in Leopoldville, now the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the current mission of mobilizing, organizing and educating Angolan women in the political circumstances of the time.
