Africa-Press – Angola. Forty-five million, 127 thousand and 941 kwanzas were collected by Veterinary Services in the province of Cunene, during the year 2023, representing an increase of 13 million, 884 thousand and 281 kwanzas compared to the previous same period.

The information was provided this Monday, by the head of Veterinary Services in Cunene, Cláudio Simão, highlighting that in 2022, the body raised 31 million, 243 thousand and 660 kwanzas, the increase of which is due to the awareness of users linked to trade of cattle.

In a statement, he said that the amount in question results from the issuance of 625 animal transit health guides, compared to the previous 319, and from inspections of slaughter and sale of meat.

He made it known that during the period in question, the department recorded the movement of four thousand and 769 heads of cattle, 18 thousand and 927 goats, two thousand and one sheep, one thousand and 639 pigs, six zebras, five horses and three giraffes.

The animals in question, he highlighted, were destined for the provinces of Luanda, Lunda Norte, Huambo, Uige and Namibe, intended for breeding and reproduction.

Within the scope of animal prophylaxis, it indicated the immunization of 134 thousand 456 cattle against symptomatic and symptomatic anthrax, nodular dermatitis, contagious bovine peripneumonia and four thousand 743 dogs against rabies.

Cláudio Simão also highlighted the inspection of 73 cattle slaughter sites, compared to 256 in 2022, resulting in the production of 18 thousand 323 kg of meat.

Data from the Veterinary Service indicate that the province of Cunene has an estimated herd of more than one million and 250 thousand head of cattle.
