The inspector general of State Administration, João Manuel Francisco, stated, this Wednesday, in Luanda, that the institution will collaborate with bodies dedicated to combating acts of corruption and other irregularities that call into question the principles of probity and legality, with a view to ensuring good governance.
João Manuel Francisco, who spoke during the handover ceremony, stressed that IGAE has a pedagogical function on respect for legal procedures, which requires, from everyone, the duty to teach and warn against violating the laws.
“The Holder of the Executive Power entrusted us with this task of seeking to exercise this function of warning about respect for legal procedures and public administration budgetary legislation, but always from a pedagogical perspective, because the function of the Inspectorate is not to replace the judicial bodies or judiciary”, he highlighted.
On the occasion, the official reaffirmed his commitment to defending the country and the order established in the Constitution and laws.
In turn, the outgoing inspector general, Ângelo da Veiga Tavares, thanked the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, for the trust placed in him to lead the institution in the fight against corruption.
Created on January 17, 1992, IGAE is an auxiliary body of the President of the Republic with the mission of carrying out internal control of public administration, through inspection, inspection, audit, supervision, control, inquiry and investigations of all bodies. , bodies and services of the direct and indirect administration of the State, as well as autonomous administrations.
It also has the mission of preventing and detecting fraud, acts of corruption and impropriety, irregularities, misconduct on the part of public officials or administrative agents that comprise them, as well as defending public assets and strengthening integrity and transparency in the management of public goods.
