Africa-Press – Angola. The national senior men’s handball team lost today (Wednesday), in Cairo, against Guinea, by a mere 24 -25, in direct free kicks, in a game qualifying for fifth to eighth place in the African Championship, which takes place in Egypt.
The defeat removes the Angolan team from the World Championship, to be held in Croatia, Norway and Denmark.
Coach Filipe Cruz’s team came out at half-time with a 12-9 lead, and at the end of regulation time equaled with twenty-two (22) goals.
On Thursday, the Angolan team will face a similar team from Morocco, which beat Congo by 36-37.
In the regular phase, Angola beat Nigeria, 26-24, in its debut, defeated Kenya, 48-20, and ended with a defeat against Tunisia, 30-33.
From the quarter-finals, defeat, on Tuesday, against Egypt, by 25-37.
