Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Parliament authorized, this Friday, the double adoption of the youngest Bruno Figueira by the couple José de Abreu and Lara de Abreu, of South African and Angolan nationalities, respectively.
The draft resolution was unanimously approved during the 3rd Ordinary Plenary Meeting of the 2nd Legislative Session of the V Legislature, guided by the president of the legislative body, Carolina Cerqueira.
Bruno Etiandro Sampaio Figueira, 12 years old, has lived in Angola with the applicant couple since he was three years old, and attends 5th grade at a private educational institution, in the city of Lubango, Huíla province.
The plenary observed that the applicants José Augusto Saraiva de Abreu, aged 60, and Cristina Figueira de Abreu, aged 40, meet the legal requirements and have the physical, mental and financial capacity to do so.
At the same meeting, the National Assembly also unanimously granted authorization for the double adoption of the minor Yolisa Mundjanga by the couple Afonso and Rebeca Chinhama, of Angolan and Canadian nationalities, respectively.
Yolisa Mundjanga (8 years old) has lived with the applicants since she was eight months old.
The president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, congratulated the applicants for the action for their gesture and wished the children success and well-being.
Adoption aims to provide social, moral and emotional protection for minors, thus creating a kinship bond between the adopters and the adopted person equal to that which links children to their natural parents, as established in article 197 of the Family Code.
