Africa-Press – Angola. The second commander of the Central Military Region (RMC), Brigadier Sapalo Baptista Tchimuhenguele, considered, this Monday, the continuous training of personnel, with operational techniques and tactics, to be essential to counter a possible destabilization of the country.
The military official was speaking at the opening of the 21st Basic Military Training course, with 667 recruits, including men and women, taking place at the Army Troops Training Center “Heróis de Kangamba”, in the municipality of Chicala-Cholohanga, Huambo province.
On the occasion, he mentioned that the permanent instruction of the military is part of the strategies of the Army’s Higher Command, under the guidance of the President of the Republic and FAA Commander-in-Chief, João Lourenço, in order to respond to actions of instability in the national territory.
He said that the Army, as a branch of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), is, at this stage, focusing on modernization, rejuvenation and the improvement of the organizational structure, based, among others, on man, infrastructure, armament and technique.
He stressed that, for the FAA to truly perform its role, it is important that personnel are properly trained, equipped and have an upright character, devoid of greedy ideas that destroy doctrine and regulations.
To this end, the commander asked for a redoubling of the personnel’s efforts in targeted missions, observing, in all circumstances, strict political non-partisanship, as they are committed to the Nation.
To the 667 recruits, Brigadier Sapalo Baptista Tchimuhenguele reminded that the Army’s main mission is the defense of national terrestrial space, obeying the fundamental rules, which are based on hierarchy, discipline and single command, essential instruments for complying with the guidelines issued from above.
He called for dedication, patriotic spirit and determination, to better guarantee defense, sovereignty and National Independence, ensuring the country’s freedom and security, against aggression and various threats.
In turn, the commander of the Army Troops Instruction Center “Heróis de Kangamba”, Colonel Elias José Marinheiro, said that the training, with various subjects from military life, morals, ethics, civics, health, education and others, marks the beginning of a patriotic journey for young people from different parts of the country.
He informed that the academic program, with general and specific subjects and performance assessment, is based on the methodological principles of military instruction, which aim to qualify recruits in the basic activities of a soldier.
He made it known that the course, to be held in two phases, will last 12 academic weeks for basic military instruction, with an estimated workload of 628 hours, between day and night, in subjects linked, among others, to weapons and infantry shooting, individual combat technique, military topography, physical preparation, engineering and communication missions.
“Heroes of Kangamba” Center
Located 24 kilometers east of the Central Military Region Command Post, in the Santo António neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, the “Heróis de Kangamba” Army Troop Training Center began the first General Military Preparation Course in January 1999, in the municipality of Cahama, province of Cunene.
In 2007, it was transferred to the Central Military Region, specifically in the province of Huambo, as a result of the vision and strategy of the FAA Higher Command, with the inauguration held on December 14, 2011.
Since its creation to date, the center has promoted 24 different courses, with a total of 24,385 military personnel trained, namely in the areas of Basic Military Instruction (18,194), Hunter Training (1,530), Ex-servicemen of the UNITA (786), Operational Military Instruction (353), Military Police (400) and Public Order Police (three thousand 599).
