Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (Mirempet), Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, highlighted, in Luanda, the investments made by companies in the sector in different segments of social responsibility.

When speaking at the workshop on social responsibility actions and projects in the mineral resources, oil and gas sector, the government official highlighted that the field of Health has been a constant priority.

He added that projects developed in several provinces have benefited many users, contributing to an increase in the number of people attending medical appointments, improving disease diagnosis capacity, training health professionals and improving the provision of health care.

According to the minister, in the field of Education, thousands of students have been benefiting from investments made by companies, with an impact on reducing the number of children and young people outside the education system, through the construction and equipping of schools, training of teachers, improving teaching through digital education, promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment.

Diamantino Pedro Azevedo said that, in relation to Economic and Social Development, the actions implemented in this context allowed the creation of agricultural cooperatives, access to drinking water and energy for thousands of families, as well as the promotion of humane conditions for the elderly.

He added that they also include demining, improving access roads for safe movement in communities, supporting small and medium-sized businesses and access to their first job for young people.

The minister reinforced that, recognizing the importance of the environment and biodiversity, companies in the sector have been implementing a series of projects in this field, which is not only a response to the growing global concern about climate change and environmental degradation, but also a reflection of the country’s commitment to ensuring a sustainable future for future generations.

These actions, he added, demonstrate the sector’s commitment to supporting communities in the locations where its operations are carried out and the materialization of the government program to reduce social asymmetries and improve the living conditions of the populations.

The holder made it known that the ministry, aware of the challenges that the activity requires, is committed to providing the necessary institutional support, allowing companies to support the Executive’s efforts in terms of social responsibility, in alignment with the priorities defined in the Development Plan National 2023-2027.

Diamantino Pedro Azevedo encouraged companies in the sector to continue investing in social actions and projects, and to promote greater dissemination of achievements in this field, in order to make visible the sector’s commitment to helping communities and contributing to socio-economic development sustainable country.
