Africa-Press – Angola. One thousand and seven “adobe” houses were built in the municipality of Saurimo (Lunda-Sul), as part of the directed self-construction project, called “Village Improvement”.

The project, launched last July, is an initiative of the Government of Lunda-Sul, which selected 24 villages, in the first phase, to cover around two thousand and 418 houses.

These are the villages of Pimbi, Txissongo Caita, Caita Catembo, Sambau, Casseme, Muatchicucu, Saurimbo, Muacucu, Zorro, Pelengue, Sueja, Itengo, Samupafo, Tamba I and II, Mombo, Gambo, Camundanbala, Nanguanza, Txapoji, Saquembue and Muaquixi.

The deputy administrator for Technical Services and Infrastructure, Yanva Txipóia, said that the project will contribute to improving the living conditions of residents.

He also said that for the success of the project, it was necessary to distribute more than 25 thousand and 175 zinc sheets, one thousand and 36 kilograms of nails, more than three thousand beams, hammers, saws, forms for building adobes, shovels, hoes , among other means.

He highlighted that the project is based on the program to improve the social conditions of the villages and aims to improve the population’s habitability by 2027.

He made it known that the villages will have streets, water supply systems, electricity, schools and other services.

Saurimo, with more than 530 thousand inhabitants, is made up of the municipalities of Saurimo, Mona-Quimbundo and Sombo, 140 villages, of which 61 are already unified, and 16 settlements.
